Moorhead & Halse

马海洋行

British practice formed in Shanghai in 1907 by civil engineer Robert Moorhead and architect Sidney Joseph Halse; it designed the Asia Building on the Bund.

Moorhead & Halse (马海洋行, Mǎhǎi Yángháng) was a British practice formed in Shanghai in 1907 by Robert Moorhead, a civil engineer, and Sidney Joseph Halse, a London-trained architect who had qualified in 1901. The firm designed the McBain Building at No. 1 on the Bund, completed in 1916 and known since 1917 as the Asia Building, and a Japanese architect on its staff fitted out the interiors of the neighbouring Shanghai Club. It later became Moorhead, Halse & Robinson; Halse left to practise on his own and died in Shanghai in 1946.
